On May 9, a solemn procession of the “Immortal Regiment” took place on the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War in the village of Danki and the Prioksko-Terrasniy Reserve.
“Immortal Regiment” is an international public movement to preserve personal memory of the generation of the Great Patriotic War. Every year on the Victory Day, the participants of the movement march through the streets of the city with photos of their relatives – veterans of the army and navy, partisans, underground fighters, Resistance fighters, rear workers, prisoners of concentration camps, blockades, children of war.
This action was organized by teachers and schoolchildren of the secondary school in Danki. Early in the morning on Victory Day the procession proceeded from the central manor of the Prioksko-Terrasny reserve to the obelisk of memory of veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War, where at 9 o’clock. 30 min. a solemn meeting was held.
This solemn procession gathered more than 200 participants wishing to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for their Motherland. With flags, flowers and portraits of heroes passed adults and children, schoolchildren and students, employees of the reserve. Of course, it is a pity that, along with all, there was not our only veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Kalinin VN. – he attended this day in Moscow on the Victory Day parade, but there were many veterans of the rear, those who, while still children, helped their country to win this Great Victory over fascism.
Today, there are so few veterans who have gone through a terrible war. Their memories are of immense value, their feat is immortal. Only courageous, strong-spirited people could stand up in a difficult war.
