On October 30, employees of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve took part in the conference “The Role of Rural Non-Profit Associations in the Preservation of Russia’s Natural and Cultural Heritage and the Development of Ecological Informative Tourism”.
The conference was held in the framework of the project “Keeping the future together”. The organizers were the Presidential Grants Foundation, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the ANO Environmental Education Center “Zapovedniki”.
The event was attended by representatives of government bodies, public associations, representatives of various nature reserves and national parks, non-profit organizations, cultural and educational institutions, and the media.
The purpose of the Conference is to promote the development of civil initiatives and the non-profit sector in rural areas. Development of cooperation between rural NGOs and specially protected natural areas for the development of ecological tourism as a mechanism for sustainable socio-economic development and improvement of the protection of natural and cultural heritage.
After the plenary session, three thematic sections began to operate: “Interaction of NGOs, business and PAs”, “Ecological educational tourism as a factor in the development of rural areas”, “Activities of rural NGOs in the field of conservation of natural and cultural heritage”.
Participants could choose which topic was most relevant for them. In each section, interesting speakers spoke, there were informative discussions. The results of the All-Russian contest “Nature Reserve Winter” were summed up and the winners were awarded.
