On April 12, the first meeting of the Scientific Council was held in 2018.

The first discussed issue was the scientific report for 2017 on the topic “Inventory of rare animal species in the conservation zone and the cooperation zone of the biosphere reserve”.
Ilya Murashov, ornithologist, research fellow of the reserve, made a report on the results of the works. The report provided new data on the presence of rare bird species on the territory of the buffer zone and the cooperation zone.
Among them – the booted warbler, the black and white storks, great gray shrike and others. It is noted that in recent years the number of common quail has significantly decreased, and the common buzzard, which did not hibernate in our region before, began to meet regularly in the guard zone in the winter, like the usual winter rough-legged buzzard.
After a lively discussion, the report was approved unanimously. It was also decided to create an electronic mailing list entitled “The Nature of the Prioksko-Terrasny Biosphere Reserve”. The idea of the mailing is to unite connoisseurs and lovers of the nature of our places and organize by joint efforts the monitoring of wildlife within the boundaries of the cooperation zone of the biosphere reserve. It includes the rural settlement “Dankovskoe” and the urban district of Pushchino. The second question caused a lengthy and lively discussion. The project “Regulations on the Protection Zone of the Prioksko-Terrasnoy State Natural Biosphere Reserve” was prepared by the scientists of the reserve. The project was presented by the Deputy Director for Research Yuri Buivolov. This document should replace the current, but has lost its relevance – “Decision of Mosoblispolkom No. 829 of June 21, 1984″ On the organization of the guard zone of the Prioksko-Terrasniy State Reserve. ”
It is important to observe the right balance between the restrictions necessary to preserve the nature of the reserve and ensure the life of the citizens residing in the guard zone and also to develop the local economy in harmony with nature. Unfortunately, at this meeting a full consensus was not reached. The project is adopted as a basis and will be finalized within a month, taking into account discussions and comments.

Director of the reserve Evgeny Grigoryev said cheerful news, which will help to solve legal issues of the reserve. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia has finally signed a power of attorney in the name of the director of the reserve to carry out registration activities on setting a security zone for cadastral registration. Within the next week it will be registered and we will be able to start work on registration of encumbrances in Rosreestr.
In the second part of the meeting the reports of the members of the Scientific Council on the results of the conducted studies were listened to and approved. The prepared articles will be included in the new seventh Collection of scientific works of the Prioksko-Terrasny reserve. It is planned to publish the seventh edition of scientific articles before the end of this year.
