The Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve celebrates the Year of Ecology and Specially Protected Natural Areas with the inter-regional Creative Competition «Bird of the Year 2017».

For the last years, the Russian Birds Conservation Union has annually chosen the bird of the year in Russia. This year’s symbol is the modest willow tit, which is also the protagonist of the inter-regional Creative Competition «Bird of the Year 2017», organized by the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve. It is worth mentioning that the choice of the bird is very close to the employees of the reserve as the willow tit lives in the Moscow region too.

«Bird of the Year 2017» competition should promote the Russian Birds Conservation Union’s program for the conservation of species diversity, population and habitats of Russian wild birds. It is also going to draw the attention of children and adults to the peculiarities and values of nature conservation in their region.

You can participate in two nominations «Best Drawing» and «Best Craft». Each suggests a complete realization of the student’s creative potential. Apart from drawing and crafts, you can make a slogan, a short poem or a story (just a few sentences). Each participant can submit only one work.

The competition is conducted in the period from February 2 to April 2, 2017. An open online vote will be held on the official website from February 20 to March 31, 2017. The results will be announced on April 3, 2017.

The participants winning medal places will receive diplomas, souvenirs and other memorable presents from the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve. The works gaining the most of the popular vote will get the special «People’s Choice Award» diploma and a memorable present from the reserve.
