Digest of 2025 March

03/03/2025 Maslenitsa festivities

Spring should be greeted with cheerful festivities, songs and pancakes. As the old saying goes, Maslenitsa without pancakes is like a name day without pies! Festivities in the best traditions of Maslenitsa were held on the 2nd of March  in the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve. The organizers tried very hard to design the photo zones, among which a huge brown bear in a cap with a balalaika, so everyone could take a cool photo for memory. At the Central Estate the guests were greeted by three full-length dolls – a pair of bison in Russian folk dresses and a squirrel. The real Maslenitsa festivities were organized for the guests by the specialists from the Department of Environmental Education and Educational Tourism. The teams of registered participants guessed the questions of the educational quiz with noise and laughter! After that they made a sun amulet, drank tea with pancakes, jam and bagels. Street festivities with songs, round dances and games began at exactly 2 pm. The culmination of the Reserve Maslenitsa was the departure of winter and the meeting of spring. The atmospheric art space “Seasons” was created especially for this purpose. The 6-meter-long arch was divided into two seasons and thematically decorated with natural materials. All the guests stood up in pairs and, holding hands tightly, walked through winter and found themselves in spring. Each participant made a wish! And despite the fact that it snowed almost all day, it failed to spoil the spring festive mood. We had a very good time!

On the 12th of March the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve took part in interdepartmental studies to organize interaction between structural divisions of various departments during the fire season-2025. Considerable forces and resources were involved. The “legend” of the studies was the usual and most likely — the ignition of dry grass due to strong wind, the fire quickly spread into the forest and began to spread to the settlement. The state inspectors from the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve are leaving for the fire site by the Small Forestry Complex based on UAZ Patriot. Several huge bonfires, simulating a natural fire, were quickly put out and reliably poured with water to prevent re-ignition. The staff acted professionally and were equipped with the necessary equipment. The state inspectors checked for the readiness of special machinery and equipment. Each participant of the studies improved their skills in using fire fighting equipment and tested personal protective equipment in practice.
