On Saturday, October 7, employees of MMC Norilsk Nickel visited Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve. Despite the weather forecast, the decision to hold a volunteer day was unambiguous! On the agenda was the dismantling of a dilapidated building. This task was accomplished by a group of volunteers in a matter of hours. After a warming tea party, the volunteers were given a tour of the ecological trail “The Road to the Bison”. The positive attitude, sincere desire to help the Reserve and keen interest of Norilsk Nickel’s representatives in wildlife conservation will long remain in the memory of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve staff. On October 10, Tuesday, specialists of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve attended a festive event dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the founding of the A.A. Buzovkin Children’s Art School. Nature protection and educational institutions are connected by the art project “Reserve: seasons of the year”, which is realized on the specially protected natural territory for the second season. Irina Pushkova, Chief Specialist for Environmental Education of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve”, congratulated Elena Kotova, Director of the Buzovkin Art School, presenting her with a congratulatory address and a souvenir.
Employees of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve” regularly undergo training. Often specialists of one department conduct training sessions for their colleagues from other departments. This form contributes to effective interaction within the workforce, the organization of integrated work of the institution and improve the personal level of knowledge. On October 11, Wednesday, leading specialist in tourism development Marina Muzychenko held a training session for state inspectors of the department of territory protection and operational group of territory protection on the topic: “Dangerous memory: how harmful are artificial flowers. The information obtained during the training will help the state inspectors to tell the visitors of the protected cemetery about the negative effects of plastic on the environment.
Sketching lessons in the Museum of Nature
On October 12, Thursday, the Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve hosted the students of the A.A. Buzovkin Children’s Art School within the framework of the art project “Reserve: Seasons of the Year”. The program was rich: acquaintance with the specially protected natural territory, excursion to the Museum of Nature, tea party and a walk along the ecological trail “The Road to the Bison”. During the sketching session, the children made sketches and studies in gouache, watercolor and pastel. Trushina Nastya, Kostyro Alina and Kalinina Diana had time to make easel compositions, drawing from life compositions of animals and birds in the Museum of Nature. The rest of the pupils finished their works in the walls of the art school.
Event within the framework of cooperation
On October 13, Friday, within the framework of cooperation between the FGBU “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve” and the GKU MO “Mosobelles”, branch “Russkiy les” a friendly visit of “foresters” to the protected area took place. Specialists of the department of environmental education and informative tourism organized a family day in the reserve. The guests were given a tour along the ecological trail “The Road to the Bison” and a quiz “Reserve Quiz”. Young excursionists and their parents received souvenirs, and most importantly – interesting knowledge about the nature of their native land, the only reserve in the Moscow region and the red-listed animal – the bison.
Reserve specialists in the jury
On October 13, leading specialist in environmental education FGBU “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve” Olga Kalinina took part in the jury of the expert commission of the municipal stage of the regional conference of young biologists and ecologists. The participants presented twelve research projects on various topics, such as: “CARNIVOROUS PLANTS as an effective method of biological control of harmful insects”, “Assessment of the ecological state of the Serpeisky pond by the organisms living in it”, “Influence of dishwashing detergents on plants”, “Restoration of the ecosystem of the school territory” and others. The jury members noted the high level of preparation of reports, practical orientation and own contribution of researchers. We congratulate the children and wish them further success in their research activities!
The Reserve received two awards on Friday, October 13. The event, timed to coincide with World Tourism Day, was held in the MBUK “Museum and Exhibition Center” on the initiative of the Administration of the City District of Serpu-Khov. Svetlana Rodionova, Director of FGBU “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve” and Natalia Shpilenok, Deputy Director for Environmental Education, Development and Tourism of FGBU “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve” were awarded a letter of thanks for their active life position, professionalism and great personal contribution to the development of tourism.
On October 14 in Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve a survey of ptarmigan was conducted. Annual route counting is necessary to obtain data on the presence and number of grouse, ruffed grouse, grouse, gray partridges and quail. The surveys of these birds in Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve have been conducted since 1953. Last Saturday the staff of the scientific department, department of territory protection, department of ecological education and informative tourism, experienced guides and volunteers from Pushchino, Serpukhov and Moscow went to the forest. Serpukhov and Moscow. In search of birds on eleven routes 100 km were passed. Grouse meetings this year more often took place in places where these birds were kept very rarely before. The population of the most abundant species, the Grouse, seems to be close to the average annual numbers.
Vasily Demidov, Deputy Director for Research of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve”, took part in the All-Russian scientific-practical seminar “Modern methodology of research and development in nature reserves and national parks of Russia”, organized on the basis of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Zapovednaya Mordovia”. The workshop was attended by 42 representatives of reserves and national parks of European Russia, the Urals, Western and Eastern Siberia, the Baikal region, the Far East, and employees of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Mordovia. The main purpose of the scientific seminar was to exchange work experience and modern methods of research and development.
