Within the framework of cooperation between FSBI “Prioksko-Terrasny State Nature Reserve” and the branch “Russian forest” of GKU MO “Mosoblles” conducted spot-check in the protected area of Prioksko-Terrasny State Nature Biosphere Reserve, bordering with the lands of the forest fund from 01.05.21 to 03.05.21. Spot-checks were coincided to the beginning of the fire season in the Moscow region. Joint patrolling was carried out in the area of common responsibility. Such actions became a good tradition. The purpose of the spot-checks was to prevent natural fires, identify violations of fire and sanitary safety rules in the forests, illegal use of natural resources and prevent trespassing on specially protected natural areas. The Oka River floodplain is invariably very popular with the residents of Moscow Region and neighboring regions. The May weekend is a good reason to spend the days off and holidays in the countryside. However, many vacationers arrange their leisure time with violations of environmental laws. During the spot-check, state environmental inspectors of FSBI “Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve” and employees of the branch “Russian forest” of GKU MO “Mosoblles” held explanatory talks and handed out visual campaign materials with relevant information and contacts for communication to all visitors of the protected area of Prioksko-Terrasny State Nature Biosphere Reserve.

Victory Day is the main holiday of our country. On this day we honor veterans of the World War 2 and toilers of the rear, remember soldiers who fell in battle and civilians who died at the hands of the Nazis. The victorious warriors left us a message from the past – to keep the skies above our heads in peace! We are the same age as the Victory. Immediately after the Great Patriotic War, June 19, 1945 Prioksko-Terrasny State Nature Biosphere Reserve was established. Many of those who saved the world from fascism, immediately after the Great Victory, again chose the fate of the protector, the guardian of their mother land, mother nature. All of them are still in our memory… For peace, for a clear sky over our heads, for our freedom and happiness – a low bow, love and gratitude to you!

The Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve held an environmental event as part of the All-Russian “Night of Museums-2021” campaign. During the event, participants went on an unusual evening excursion along the “Road to the Bison” environmental trail, which included an introduction to the Central Bison Nursery and the Museum of Nature. An interesting feature of the museum visit was the lighting – a lecture about the night inhabitants of the forests – owls, was held in the light of the flashlights. After that, children learning about the mysteries of life in the Reserve participated in a workshop on painting plaster figurines of predators. At the end of the program, a series of videos about the mysterious life of owls was shown. Natalia Shpilenok, Deputy Director for Environmental Education, Development and Tourism of the Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve, commented: “Working with the younger generation is a priority in the activities of the Prioksko-Terrasny State Reserve”.

Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve announced the end of the first stage of the environmental art competition for children “The World of Protected Nature”. It is organized within the framework of the “March of Parks” campaign, with the support of the Wildlife Conservation Center. This year there was only one nomination: “Life of Wetlands”. Young naturalists were invited to take a closer look at the wonderful world of streams, lakes, rivers, man-made ponds and swamps, and then transfer their impressions to paper. We congratulate all the winners and say many thanks to all the participants!

Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve announces the completion of the third stage of the interregional ecological and educational competition project “12 Wonders of the Priokskiy Forest”! The theme of the month was dedicated to the steppe guest of the Moscow region – the Biberstein’s tulip. As part of the contest participants had to share with us photos of tulips grown in their gardens. A lot of works came to the reserve, so the jury decided to divide the works into two categories – individual and family. A large number of entries from different cities of Russia showed how carefully and attentively the participants treat their brightly colored darlings. Some of the pictures were accompanied by stories that are heart-warming and charming.
