Amazing Bird Feeders

Employees of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve always try to keep their promises. If they promised that on Saturday, January 18th, all the finalists of the environmental feast “Dining Room for Feathers” would be invited to the awards ceremony, then it means so!

As part of the All-Russian action “Feed the birds in winter”, from November 12, 2019 to January 18, 2020, the environmental competition “Dining Room for Feathered” was held, where everyone was interested in the skill of making bird feeders.

The competition aroused great interest, we received photos of 144 beautiful feeding troughs. Only 33 of them reached the final, the best and most interesting in their design and workmanship. All participants received letters of appreciation, and the creators of the best works came to the reserve for the solemn part. We, as promised, today, January 18, gathered all the finalists on the territory of the Central Estate of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve. The event turned out to be very large-scale.

We have done everything to make our guests satisfied! They learned a lot about the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve, wintering birds and bison. Someone was sorry to part with his work, the creation of which was a lot of effort and time, but we promise that we will not forget to fill them with food every day and this will help many birds to calmly survive the cold winter. When the work is done in good faith, the feeder can last for many years. We have been posting some of them for over 10 years! The signatures of their authors and school numbers have long been erased from them, and the birds are also happy to eat seeds on these feeders.

All finalists received certificates, and 13 of the best works received diplomas and memorable prizes.

Competition winner Maxim Lobanov: “I really love the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve and participate in all competitions, I wish all my peers to stop spending time with their smartphones and start doing something with their own hands.”

The reserve’s employees are grateful to everyone for participating in the contest and express special gratitude to parents and teachers who awaken in their children a love of nature and indifference to animals living near us.
