The Knights of Science

The third Russian Biotournament starts in the science city of Puschino on September 23 as a team competition of biology students. The staff of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve took an active part in creating the complex competition tasks and has been included in the jury as well.

The third National Biotournament will traditionally bring together the best biology students of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Chelyabinsk State Universities and other leading universities in the country. This year the participants will include the newcomers from Astrakhan, Volgograd, Novosibirsk and Syktyvkar. The event is being held by the Pushchino Research Center in collaboration with the Interfaculty scientific-educational center of Moscow State University in Pushchino.

The Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve has prepared a guided tour for the future biologists. It will be an excellent opportunity for the guests from other regions to get to know the flora and fauna of the Moscow region. The participants will learn a lot of new and interesting information about the life of the largest ungulate mammal in Europe — the European bison.

Undoubtedly, the new knowledge gained in the reserve will help the students during their scientific combats. For example, when they will have to find a solution to a difficult problem concerning the number of ungulates in specially protected areas and prove it. The scientists of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve proposed the task and will personally evaluate the solutions as a part of a competent jury of the Biotournament.
